Youths in Vernon and the surrounding communities interested in cheer leading will have a new group to join.

Absolute Cheer and Tumbling is coming to Vernon, giving local youth a chance to hone their stunt, tumbling and performing skills.

The new Absolute Okanagan program was developed by co-founder Sonja Aquila, Founder and CEO of Absolute Cheer and Tumbling, as well as Billie Sue Roe, and internationally respected leader in cheer leading education and athlete development.

“Built on a foundation of growth mindset and a commitment to building champions for life, Absolute has developed athletes who excel in stunting, tumbling, and performance while also building confidence, leadership, and resilience,” Absolute Cheer and Tumbling said in a release.

“Absolute Okanagan will be led by Billie Sue Roe, whose international experience and athlete-first philosophy bring exceptional depth to the program’s launch.”

The organization added that Roe leads global education initiatives for cheer leading coaches, judges and instructors, and her background includes national championship experience, professional performance stunt captaining, international coaching and education experience, and judging at major events around the world.

To kick off the new Absolute Okanagan program, a series of Skills Training Weekends will be held. These will be open to the public and held at the Priest Valley Gym from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 23/24, May 30/31, June 6/7, and June 13/14.

“Whether your athlete is new to cheer or ready to elevate their skills, Absolute Okanagan’s spring clinics provide a supportive, high-energy environment where athletes can train, grow, and build confidence the Absolute way—while preparing for the fall season and positioning themselves for team placements in competitive cheerleading. These skills weekends are open to everyone,” Absolute Cheer and Tumbling stated.

People interested in the organization can also find more information at Absolute Okanagan’s website.
