E-scooters, bikes back on Vernon streets

Riding season has returned to the North Okanagan.

The City of Vernon has brought out its fleet of Bird e-scooters and e-bikes for people to use instead of their vehicles for daily commutes or pleasure.

The alternate modes of transportation have been offered locally over the past few years and have been well received over that time.

β€œThe City of Vernon is pleased to welcome the return of Bird e-scooters and e-bikes, which provide residents and visitors with another convenient option for getting around the community while supporting alternative and active transportation,” the city said in an email to Vernon Matters.

β€œLast year, the program saw strong use, with more than 40,000 rides recorded and over 93,000 kilometres travelled, showing there is strong interest in flexible ways to connect to destinations across the city.”

The city reminds riders and cyclists to follow safety guidelines, be responsible, and be mindful of others on roadways and paths.
