Major Crimes Unit investigating Lumby shooting death

The investigation into the fatal shooting in Lumby Tuesday afternoon has been forwarded up the chain.

At around 4:20 p.m. March 3, police responded to reports of shots fired on Schwartz Road in Lumby.

Police arrived on the scene and found that 60 year old Corey Ott was shot. He was rushed to hospital and underwent surgery, but he did not survive his injuries.

A suspect was arrested shortly after the shooting but was released without charges a short time later.

B.C. RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit has taken over the case and is asking any witness, anyone with information about the incident or the people involved, or anyone with dashcam or security camera footage from the area between noon and 8 p.m. Tuesday come forward to help with the investigation.
