RDNO launches ‘Too Good to Waste’ campaign

The Regional District of North Okanagan has launched a new community campaign called Too Good to Waste, aimed at encouraging residents and businesses to take action to reduce waste and conserve water.

The campaign highlights the region’s natural beauty, from its lakes and rolling hills to its agricultural lands, and stresses that protecting these resources starts with simple, everyday actions.

Officials say if all 98,000 residents take one sustainable step each day, it would add up to more than 35 million actions in a year.

Too Good to Waste promotes sustainable habits like using rain barrels, planting drought-tolerant plants, fixing leaks, and rethinking consumption to reduce landfill waste. The campaign also provides guidance on sorting materials correctly to support a local circular economy and keep communities clean.

“Every action matters,” said the RDNO in a statement. “By making small changes in our homes, schools, and businesses, we can preserve the lakes, rivers, and lands that make the North Okanagan so special.”
