Volunteers sought for CFNO’s grant review team

Community Foundation North Okanagan is looking for new members to help guide grant decisions.

The organization is looking to bring in four new volunteers to its Smart and Caring Community Grants Program Review Committee.

The program supports local charities and non-profits with financial aid to complete projects and run initiatives in the North Okanagan communities, and CFNO wants to see more people who care about community wellbeing and can commit to participating in a fair and thoughtful review process get involved.

“Strong grantmaking depends on thoughtful community perspectives,” Leanne Hammond, Executive Director of Community Foundation North Okanagan, said.

“We are looking for dependable people who care about this region and want to help ensure local charitable funding is directed where it can do the most good.”

The organization added that people who already work in the non-profit sector are strongly encouraged to apply, especially if they have experience or insight into the arts and culture, social services, and mental health sectors.

The committee members are expected to donate approximately 14 to 16 hours of their time each year to review applications and participate in adjudication and other meetings.

People can apply to the review committee online or in person by March 20. That will be followed by an interview and review processes.
