The acclaimed Vernon-based artist will have another milestone reached this spring.

Sveva Caetani’s Recapitulation series have been on display at Rome’s MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Arts from October through January. This was the first time the late Italian-Canadian’s works were on display in Italy, where they were reportedly well received.

Those pieces will be returning to the Okanagan for another milestone.

From April 3 to 11, the Caetani Centre will exhibit the entire Recapitulation series at Coldstream Community Hall.

The Caetani Centre said Recapitulation Reunited will mark the first time the entire series will be exhibited all at once in Canada.

“Bringing Recapitulation Reunited home to Vernon after its international presentation in Rome is both a celebration and a responsibility,” Laisha Rosnau, Executive Director of the Caetani Centre, said.

“This exhibition highlights the global impact of Sveva Caetani’s artwork, while reaffirming our commitment to preserving the Caetani house and sharing her extraordinary story with new generations.”

The Recapitulation series was created between 1978 and 1989, and chronicles Caetani’s journey from Italian nobility, the family history, and her artistic reawakening in B.C.

“Hosting the complete series is a milestone for our city and for the provincial arts sector,” Teresa Durning, City of Vernon Councilor and Director at Large with the Regional District of North Okanagan, stated.

“It underscores the importance of supporting institutions like the Caetani Centre that contribute meaningfully to cultural tourism and creative economies throughout British Columbia.”
