Water Quality Advisory issued for the Adventure Bay area

A precautionary water quality advisory was issued for dozen of properties in the Adventure Bay area Tuesday afternoon.

Greater Vernon Water (GVW) said a watermain break on Feb. 24 led to a loss of water pressure for the system that serves properties on Stonington, Oxford and Crofton Roads, and for 8808 to 8864 Hampshire Crescent and between 8808 and 8868 Tavistock Road.

GVW advised people in the affected areas bring their tap water to a roiling boil for a full minute before drinking; using to make or prepare food or drink, including baby formula and ice; and brushing teeth.

People in the affected areas may experience discoloured water or air in their pipes. In these cases people should run their taps on cold until the water turns clear, with GVW saying its best to do this using an outdoor tap.

The advisory will be lifted after testing shows the bacterial levels within the water system are within the safe drinking range.
