Vernon Search and Rescue members were busy last year.

The volunteer search and rescue society said in a social media post that it responded to 72 calls for assistance in 2025, during which members donated a combined 17,000 hours of service.

VSAR said highlights from the past year included recruiting new members, bringing in and equipping a new command truck, working with Air Rescue One on various extractions, having its Guardian watercraft repaired, and working with dog teams and other area search and rescue groups on mutual calls.

The group reminded people that search and rescue is a free service and asked people to call 911 when in need.
