Death near Turtle Mountain under investigation

A fatal incident in the Turtle Mountain area is being investigated.
In a social media post, Vernon Search and Rescue said it was called out to assist with a recovery of a dead male just before dinner on Christmas Day.
“Amidst snow flurries, VSAR volunteers used a rope system and a stretcher to bring the subject to the RCMP and BC Coroner service,” the group stated in its post.
The B.C. Coroner’s Service confirmed in an email to Vernon Matters that it had taken over the case, though did not provide any additional information about the individual or the circumstances as the investigation into the death was active.
