Greater Vernon’s transit service expanding in the new year

Dec 30, 2025 | 2:29 PM

Greater Vernon residents will have more transit options in 2026.

Effective Jan. 4, Routes 1 through 9 within the Vernon Regional Transit System will see minor schedule changes to improve reliability.

There will also be some changes to select routes to benefit the riders:

  • Route 3 North End / Downtown – additional trips and improved frequency on weekdays
  • Route 5 South Vernon – trip times adjusted to meet school bell times
  • Route 7 OK Landing – minor route and schedule changes
  • Route 61 Lumby / Vernon – route adjustments so all daily trips follow the same route, rather than having variant routes, to service Lavington and Learmouth Road on every trip

The hadyDART service will also be enhanced with its service being offered on Sundays and select Statutory Holidays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“This service expansion for the Vernon Transit System has been made possible by an increase in local government and provincial funding,” B.C. Transit said in a release.

“The operating grant provided in the 2025-26 provincial budget will allow BC Transit and its local government partners to continue to provide safe and reliable service and demonstrates that public transit remains a priority in our communities.”

All the changes to the the local transit system schedules can be found at the online Rider’s Guide.
