Outside funds to support Lavington Wetland assessment

Nov 3, 2025 | 6:00 AM

The District of Coldstream has moved ahead with a study of the Lavington Wetlands thanks to some financial support.

The district has asked that the wetland be assessed to guide the development of a plan aimed at mitigating risks of future flooding events.

The district applied for outside money from the Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB) to fund the study, and district staff said it was able to secure funding through the organization’s Water Conservation and Quality Improvement Grant program.

The OBWB said it provided the district $25,000 through this funding stream for the project.

The municipality contracted Associated Environmental Consultants Inc. to undertake the study, and the company had reportedly already developed a draft version of the Lavington Wetland Risk Mitigation Plan.

That plan will be presented to Coldstream Council at the November 24 meeting.
