The City of Vernon has a new model for how it supports events in the community.
The city has developed a Community Event Partnership Grant Policy outlining how the municipality will support local events and celebrations.
The policy will see the Community Event Partnership Grant be funded at an annual cost of $75,000, which can then be doled out at the city’s discretion, though staff indicated that it would exclude support for retroactive applications.
The grant program would be funded through the Unexpended Uncommitted Funds, with council having the option to revise the budget allocation and the total funding during the 2027 budget process.
