Land Sharing workshop connects land owners and farmers
The Young Agrarians will host a Land Sharing Workshop at the Enderby Drill Hall on Oct. 19.
Land Sharing is a partnership program where land owners are connected with farmers so their acreage can be put to good use.
The Young Agrarians said the program is great for farm operators who aging or heading into retirement, for people who own land where nothing is being grown, and for farmers who can’t afford their own properties.
The workshop will be led by Pascale Schittecatte-Ćirić, the B.C. Land Matching Program Manager, Haley Schonhofer, the Okanagan-Thompson Land Matcher, as well as Emma Holmes, a regional agrologist. These individuals will explain how the program works and how it can be mutually beneficial to the owners and farmers, as well as discuss programs and resources available to the agricultural sector.
