Regional campfire ban to be lifted Monday
Campfires within the Kamloops Fire Centre will be permitted again starting Monday.
The B.C. Wildfire Service said the ban on campfires for the region that includes the Okanagan will be lifted effective at noon Sept. 29. The lifting of the ban applies to areas within the region but outside of municipal boundaries such as parks and recreation areas, wildfire management areas, private managed forest land, and ecological reserves.
The ban being lifted will also mean that people could once again use sky lanterns, and wood fired devices such as hot tubs and pizza ovens.
Though the BCWS’s ban won’t be in place any further, that does not mean that municipalities will immediately follow suit. People were advised to check with their municipalities to see if bans remained in place for their communities.
