UPDATE: Highway 6 crash involved vehicle turning off the highway

The crash on Highway 6 Tuesday afternoon was the result of a vehicle crossing the road to exit the highway.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said a vehicle was turning left onto Pottery Road around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 23 when it was struck by an oncoming vehicle heading east on the highway.

Emergency Health Services previously told Vernon Matters that two people were taken to hospital but were in stable condition following the collision.

The crash disrupted traffic for some time as people were treated then taken to hospital, debris was cleared from the road, spilled fluids were addressed, and the vehicles were towed away.

Two people were injured in the crash on Highway 6 Tuesday afternoon.

B.C. Emergency Health Services said ambulances were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on the highway at Pottery Road around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 23.

“Two ambulances with primary care paramedics and an advanced care paramedic response unit responded to the scene,” Paramedic Public Information Officer, Brian Twaites, told Vernon Matters in an email.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to two patients who were transported to hospital in stable condition.”

The crash appeared to have involved a pickup truck and a Jeep, and emergency crews were on scene cleaning up spilled fluids and redirecting traffic.

The cause of the incident was not known as of time of publication.

A crash on Highway 6 disrupted traffic Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m., at the intersection of Pottery Road.

As of time of publication traffic was slowed in both directions. Vehicles heading into Vernon were being redirected via Pottery Road, while traffic heading out of town was reduced to a single lane.

First responders were on the scene cleaning up spilled fluids and directing traffic.

The crash appeared to have involved a pickup truck and a Jeep, and debris from the vehicles was scattered across the highway.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the crash or the condition of the people involved.
