Provincial Election Sponsor Violation

Kelowna-Mission candidate fined for improper advertising

Sep 10, 2025 | 1:53 PM

A candidate who ran in local riding in the last provincial election has been fined for an advertising violation.

ElectionsBC issued a $150 fine to Ashley Ramsey for “sponsoring election advertising without an authorization statement.”

Ramsey ran as an Unaffiliated candidate in the Kelowna-Mission riding in the 2024 Provincial Election.

ElectionsBC said two sponsored advertisements, a website banner ad and an online sponsored video, did not contain the required authorization statements. The agency indicated it could have fined Ramsey up to $10,000, but the candidate had the advertisements taken down shortly after being notified of the violations, so she was only issued a fine of $150.
