Cops for Kids riders rolling through Vernon Saturday

Sep 10, 2025 | 1:39 PM

Police officers raising money for a good cause will roll through Vernon on their bicycles this weekend.

The Cops for Kids ride will see the 21 participating RCMP officers and personnel from the Southern Interior roll through Vernon Saturday, and making a pit stop at the Vernon RCMP detachment at 3 p.m. where the riders can meet with members of the public.

“Vernon continues to be a huge part of our success,” Brent Mundle, president of Cops for Kids, said.

“We’re thrilled to have such strong representation from this community and grateful for the support we receive every year from the people of Vernon.”

Amongst the riders are Cpl. Tania Finnm of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP and B.C. Highway Patrol Const. Nick Reimann, of Vernon. Reimann is participating in the 10-day ride through 26 communities in the Southern Interior for the 12th time.

“Twelve years in, and it never gets old,” Reimann said in a media release.

“Every year I ride for the kids, and every year I’m reminded of how much heart this community has. Vernon always shows up, and I’m honoured to wear this jersey on their behalf.”

The riders are raising money for the Cops for Kids charity, which provides support to children in the region who have faces physical, medical or traumatic crises.

People can visit the Cops for Kids website to make a donation in the name of the participating riders or the cause in general.
