Still no free veterans parking in Kelowna

Kelowna isn’t yet ready to offer free on-street parking to military veterans as some other cities in British Columbia do.
City council rejected a staff proposal to issue a daily, single-use virtual parking validation to registered Veterans, entitling them to one no-charge on-street parking session of up to two hours each day.
Councillors in general didn’t like the need for the estimated 300 local veterans to register their veteran licence plate through a mobile app. Basically, they want a simpler permit or driver identification process.
City council is expected to hear further ideas and may yet be able to implement a free parking policy for veterans in time for November 11, which was the original intent.
