Vernon man ready to see the world after lottery win

A Vernon man is packing his bags after a big lotto win.

Randall Dunn scored a $500,000 Extra prize in the Lotto 6/49 draw in August.

“I was at the store, and I thought the machine malfunctioned,” Dunn told the B.C. Lottery Corporation (BCLC) while reflecting on the moment he realized he won.

“I checked [using the self-scanner] three times and then took it up to the counter because I wasn’t sure!”

Dunn said he was excited about the win and quickly shared the news with his husband.

“He was in disbelief until he saw the claim slip. He yelled ‘yahoo!’ and then we did a little happy dance.”

The Vernon man told the BCLC he plans to put the money towards traveling, saying they want to go to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji next year.

Dunn also said the money will help as he and his husband start to wrap up work and move into retirement.
