Campfire Ban

Area municipalities implementing campfire ban on Friday

Aug 26, 2025 | 4:41 PM

Local communities are putting a ban on all open fires effective noon Friday, August 28.

The City of Vernon, Regional District of North Okanagan, District of Coldstream, and City of Enderby will have prohibitions on all open fires, including campfires, to align with a regional ban coming into effect across the Kamloops Fire Centre.

Under the regulations all open burning, including campfires, will be prohibited. People will also not be allowed to use fireworks, sky lanterns, binary exploding targets, burn barrels or cages, air curtain burners, chimineas, and tiki or similar torches.

Devices that meet CSA (Canadian Standards Association) or ULC (Underwriters Laboratories of Canada) standards and are designed for outdoor cooking, heating, or ambiance can still be used under the campfire ban, though their flames may not exceed 15 centimetres in height.
