Vernon murder trial adjourned to late September

A murder trial underway in Vernon has been pushed back to late-September.

Peter Visintainer is charged with first degree murder in the death of Wolf-Ingo Beyer, whose body was found in the Six Mile Creek Area in May of 2022.

Visintainer’s trial began on August 5, where he pleaded not guilty.

The trail continued for a few weeks but the B.C. Prosecution Service said that the defence sought and was granted an adjournment Friday, August 22.

The Prosecution Service told Vernon Matters the trial was paused “for the purpose of obtaining a psychiatric report regarding whether at the time of the alleged offence the accused was not criminally responsible on account of mental disorder.”

The trial was slated to resume on September 22.

The Prosecution Service added adjournment was granted before the Crown had not closed its case.
