Updated housing plan
Kelowna prepares for new homes
Jul 8, 2025 | 2:24 PM
Kelowna city council has given the green light to updates in the city’s housing plan to follow new provincial regulations.
The plan now allows for 45,000 new homes by 2041, mostly apartments along with some townhouses and duplexes.
No big land use changes are required.
Council members voiced worries about the types of housing and if the city’s roads and water systems can handle the growth.
City staff said they’ll tackle infrastructure planning in the next steps.
