The Vernon junior men squads had a very successful weekend at the 2025 Alberta Open rowing regatta.

The Vernon Rowing and Dragon Boat Club (VRDBC) says Peter Masys and Leo Middlekamp picked up the U17 Men’s Double gold medals at the event on Glenmore Reservoir in Calgary.

Masys also took gold in the U17 Men’s Singles, with Middlekamp coming second in that race.

Masys, Middlekamp, Cole O’Connor and Rylan Holmgren also too part in the U19 Men’s Quad, where they earned another set of gold medals.

O’Connor and Holmgren also scored a silver in the U19 Men’s Doubles event.

VRDBC added Jonas Masys also took silver in the U23 Lightweight Men’s Single event, noting this was his first time racing in that category.

Vernon’s women racers also placed well at the regatta.

Sierra Munroe and Aida Hills scored silver medals in both the U19 Women’s Doubles and Pair Races. They also earned bronze alongside Amy Milne and Kate Green in the U19 Women’s Quad event.
