Fire near Killiney Beach brought under control overnight

The fire that sparked on the west side of Okanagan Lake was brought under control within a few hours.

The B.C. Wildfire Service reported a spot fire near Killiney Beach and the Fintry area at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday.

The provincial firefighting said the fire, which was later mapped at 1.75 hectares in size, was actioned overnight and considered Under Control by 2:34 a.m. Thursday, July 3.

The fire was suspected of being caused by human activity.

A small wildfire ignited on the west side of Okanagan Lake Wednesday evening.

The B.C. Wildfire Service says the fire was discovered near Killiney Beach in the Fintry area at around 7:43 p.m. July 2.

The BCWS’s early estimate had the fire at 90 m2.

The fire is suspected of being caused by human activity.
