Equipment failure caused four power outages Wednesday

Power was out for over 8,600 local customers over the noon hour.

B.C Hydro reported outages in North Vernon, BX/SilverStar, Coldstream and Lake Country shortly after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21.

The utility provider said the four outages were caused by equipment failure.

Power was restored by 1:30 p.m.

Power went out for a large sections of Vernon, Coldstream and Lake Country Wednesday afternoon.

B.C. Hydro reported four outages at 12:32 and 12:33 p.m., May 21.

  • Coldstream: 3,126 customers without power from Aberdeen Road to Upperon Road
  • North Vernon: power out for 1,773 customers from 40th Ave to Phillips Road
  • BX/SilverStar: 1,718 customers east of Grey Canal Road without power
  • Lake Country: 2,167 customers without power south of Vineyard Way

B.C. Hydro stated crews were on site for all outages, though did not have estimated times for when power would be restored.

The utility provider also did not have causes confirmed for any of the outages.
