Arrest made following police chase and crash in Vernon

A man was arrested following a pursuit and crash in Vernon Wednesday night.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said officers attempted a traffic stop of a black pickup truck in the area of 34th St. and 48th Ave, around 10:30 p.m., April 2.

Police activated their lights and siren, and the pickup sped away, going through a red light where it collided with another vehicle at the intersection of 48th Ave. and 27th St.

Police found that the pickup was stolen, and the driver and passenger were arrested without further incident.

The driver of the other vehicle involved was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP said the driver of the stolen truck, a 37-year-old Vernon man, remained in custody, and the investigation in this case was ongoing.
