Vernon Pride Week to run in June

The Vernon Pride Society is aligning its annual celebrations with Pride Month.

The Society said Pride Week will run from June 2 to 8 in Vernon.

“[I’m] looking forward to welcoming visitors across the valley and from afar to enjoy events and community as we’ve changed Vernon Pride Week to within International Pride Month, aligning with our neighbouring cities this year,” Vernon Pride’s President, Dawn Tucker, said.

“We’ve listened to our community’s feedback and it’s hoped that everyone will come and enjoy all we have planned.”

The week will open with a flag raising at city hall, and will close with the Pride March and Pride Day at Civic Memorial Park. Information about these and other events planned for the week can be found at the Vernon Pride website.

“2025 has started with great excitement, as we receive incredible support from the local business community for raffle prizes and their eagerness to be involved in our events and resources,” Gemma Patterson, director of events, said.

“Vernon Pride Week is shaping up to be a spectacular celebration this year, as we continue to build on our yearly success and bring the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community — and allies — together.”

The Vernon Pride Society noted changing the celebratory week dates to June will allow the local group to collaborate with other agencies in the Okanagan to provide a full month of pride celebration.
