City of Vernon’s year end transfers totals over $759,000

The City of Vernon has over three-quarters of a million dollars to transfer over from the previous year.

A staff report to Vernon council stated there were several 2024 year end reserve transfers that needed to be finalized.

$327,000 from the Salary Reserve to fund the shortfall in the Fire Rescue Services Division budget due to retroactive wage settlements
$290,624 from the Hotel Tax reserve to fund additional expenditures in the Tourism budget
$91,613.50 remaining from providing temporary firefighter staff at Station 3 (Predator Ridge) from the Extreme Wildfire Reserve to the Fire Rescue Services operating budget
$48,451 of ineligible FireSmart and wildfire project funding to the Extreme Wildfire Reserve

Council will also be asked to authorize the budget overspend connected with a change in the accounting standard in the Planning and Community Services Division.
