Mar 20, 2025 | 4:18 PM

— Update —

Greater Vernon Water has rescinded a precautionary Boil Water Notice for an area in the Okanagan Landing.

The notice was issued for properties along Apoll Rd. and Longacre Dr. on March 20 after a water main break.

Sample testing Wednesday, March 26, showed disinfection levels were within the drinking water standard, and the notice was lifted.

— Original Story —

A precautionary Boil Water Notice was issued for a neighbourhood in the Okanagan Landing Thursday.

Greater Vernon Water said a water main break in the afternoon of March 20 led to the notice being issued for properties along Apollo Rd. and from 6531 to 7347 Longacre Dr.

The break caused a loss of water pressure and increased turbidity, and affected residents were advised to bring water to a roiling boil for a full minute before drinking, using to prepare food or drinks including ice or baby formula, and brushing teeth.

People may also experienced reduced pressure or air in the pipes, and in those cases GVW recommended the cold taps be run until the water has cleared.

The notice will be rescinded after sample testing showed the water was within the safe drinking standard range.
