A Life Well Lived
Edie, 76, of Vernon, British Columbia passed away on Thursday June 27th, 2024 – her daughter by her side. She was born on June 2, 1948 to Mildred Baker and Russell Given. Edie was a loving mother to Kristina Marie, and mother-in-law to Timothy Raymond. Cherished grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She dedicated her life to accounting, if she could get your books organized and up to date, she was happy. Her kindness, generosity and nurturing nature touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
One of our fondest memories of Edie is the way she would create something delicious, then give it all away to friends and neighbors. She was quick witted and had a way of making everyone feel special with her warm smile and thoughtful words. Another cherished memory is her LOVE for Veterans and Children. A proud moment was going into the schools and sharing stories with the schoolchildren about how our Veterans fought to create the peace we live in today.
Edie had a second daughter, Karen Elizabeth, May 27, 1971. Karen was stillborn. Edie, moved many times and grew strong friendships everywhere she landed. From Peterborough to Kitchener/Cambridge/Waterloo, Marathon and then Kingston/Amherstview in Ontario. She moved to Northern British Columbia to become Finance Manager to the First Nations people of that area. Finance manager took her from Prince George/Dawson Creek to Euculid then she moved all the way to Stevensville Newfoundland and back to British Columbia – finally to Vernon in the Okanagan. She was so very proud when she became a grandmom of Ashley Kristina, Emily Mary Anne and then Robert Stephen, adding Elizabeth, Joesph, Charles and Sophia when Tina married Tim. She always shone bright when you would chat to her about her nephews and nieces and Stella her great niece. She was always taking others under her wing to love and protect. In the end, smoking beat her – COPD filled her lungs and she could no longer breathe. With so many dreams left to conquer and plans to fulfill – it was way too soon for her to leave, but she took her rest. Such well deserved rest. May you forever fly with the angels overhead, as we remember the good times, the amazing memories you left with us.
Love you forever and always mom x
