Vehicle rollover a result of excessive speed
Police are reminding people to watch their speeds after a vehicle flipped on the bridge crossing Okanagan Lake in Kelowna.
B.C. Highway Patrol had been conducting speed enforcement operations throughout the province the past week. As a result of those, at around 5 p.m. July 9, police clocked a grey four-door hatchback travelling west on the William Bennett Bridge (Highway 97) at excessive speeds of more than 105 km/h in the 60 zone.
Police said before officers could conduct a traffic stop the vehicle lost control, striking both the centre and right side medians, and rolling onto its roof.
The driver and sole occupant, who was prohibited from driving under the Motor Vehicle Act, did not suffer any life-threating injuries in the crash.
