Local nomination period closing for Conservative Party of B.C.

Feb 21, 2024 | 10:18 AM

It’s the final chance for local residents to get their name on the ballot for the Conservative Party of B.C.

The party’s nomination period for the Vernon-Lumby riding closes Wednesday, Feb. 21. People interested in running for the Conservative Party can fill out a nomination form online.

Once the nomination period comes to a close, the Conservative’s internal committee will review the applications.

If there are multiple nominees, then there will be race (vote) to determine the local candidate. If there is only one nominee, they will be named the Vernon-Lumby representative and have their names on the ballot for the 2024 provincial election.

The party stated in an e-mail to Vernon Matters that, should there be multiple nominees, it could take “a couple weeks” to determine the local candidate.

The next provincial election is scheduled for October.
