Organizers looking to embrace diversity in local Canada Day celebrations
The North Okanagan Canada Day Society is seeking feedback from the public to make its celebrations more inclusive.
The society (NOCDS) will hold its annual general meeting in March, and has invited residents to attend and participate in a conversation about how the celebrations should reflect the nation’s history, while emphasizing community, reflection and unity.
The non-profit organization is hoping the meeting will provide a platform for community members to engage in meaningful conversations, embrace diverse perspectives, and advocate for an inclusive narrative of cultural events.
Organizers say they are also working to include an additional music series in the park this year.
