It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Eugene Leo Salvas on January 31st 2024, in his home on Creighton Valley Road, at the age of 75. Leo was born on September 9th 1948, at home, in Cherryville, BC to Theresa and Conrad and was the eldest of five children. Leo often reflected on how grateful he was that his parents chose the beautiful Okanagan as a place to settle. He would happily reminisce about the good old days; being a tree faller and the memories made with his friends. Leo was especially proud of being one of the founding members of the local hang gliding community and the Lumby Air Force. Leo was married to the love of his life Debbie for 38 years and together they raised their three children: Janice, Cody and Michelle. When Leo retired, he enjoyed spending his days by the creek, in his yard, with his family and friends. He loved being outdoors, riding his Harley, flying kites and spending time with his grandchildren; especially in countless hockey arenas beaming with pride when they took to the ice. Leo’s last year was full of ups and downs, but he remained optimistic and felt as though he had lived a full life and he had no regrets. Debbie lovingly cared for him throughout his battle and remained by his side, until he peacefully passed away. Leo was sadly predeceased by his only son Cody in 2006 and his father Conrad in 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife Debbie, his mother Theresa, his aunty Aurea, his daughters Michelle (Mike) and Janice (Travis), his grandchildren: Ryder, Caydence, Locklyn, Brynn, Chase, Julia, Gavin, Izabella and his siblings Suzanne, Marcel, Gisele and Daniel. The family would like to thank Dr. Hardy and the staff at the VJH Cancer Clinic for their compassionate care during this difficult time. At Leo’s request, a celebration of life will be held at his home on May 25th 2024 at 1:00 pm.
