Kal water source to serve Duteau Creek customers due to low reservoirs

Dec 15, 2023 | 2:20 PM

A temporary water source change for some Greater Vernon Water customers has come into effect.

The Regional District of North Okanagan said customers usually served by the Duteau Creek water source will be receiving water from Kalamalka Lake temporarily.

The RDNO said the reservoirs at Dutueau Creek are lower than normal for this time of year due to lack of fall precipitation, and the change in service is required to conserve the stored water.

Customers not typically served by Kalamalka Lake are advised that the water is harder and has higher alkalinity and pH than the water from Duteau Creek. This may have some impacts on in-home water treatment systems and aquariums.

The RDNO will announce when the Duteau Creek reservoir water levels reach a more sustainable level and can once again serve its regular customers.
