Vernon Panthers star signs with U of A Golden Bears

“Big” Joe Murphy will be switching Vernon Senior Secondary Panther Blue for the green and gold of the University of Alberta Golden Bears next fall.

The Golden Bears have announced the 6-foot, 200 pound B.C. provincial all-star has committed to the Edmonton university.

Murphy was a dominate player for the Panthers on both sides of the ball at running back and outside linebacker, with an exceptional combination of speed and strength, running a 4.75 second 40 and a bench press of 305 pounds.

Murphy was a key member of the Panthers 2022 campaign which saw VSS advance all the way to the B.C. Highschool Football final four played at B.C. Place Stadium.
