Curtis Cecil Wycott

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father Curtis Cecil Wycott on Nov 17th. Curtis leaves behind his daughter (Justine), son (Brandon), parents (Betty & Cecil), sisters Karen (Eric), Leslie (Randy) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Curtis grew up in Edmonton and moved to the Okanagan in 2002 with his family. He loved the Okanagan and especially the beauty of the lakes, beaches, mountains, and Okanagan sunshine! Curtis landed a job at the Kelowna International Airport, as maintenance manager, and then went on to work as a maintenance manager at Silver Star Mountain resort. He loved working at Silver Star and often said “I love working above the clouds”! He never took for granted the big blue skies and full sunshine during those Okanagan winter months. He loved skiing and often spent weekends teaching his kids to ski. Curtis’s final job was with the City of Vernon as a traffic signal technician. Curtis worked hard to support his family and loved his kids more than life itself. He couldn’t wait to get home from work to take his kids to the beach. He was a fun-loving father, who had nicknames for all their little friends. His unconditional love and kind spirit will always be remembered.
Curtis had many interests, but the ones that were dear to his heart were restoring old mustangs and collecting mustang parts, fishing, boating, camping, and crabbing at Oak Harbour. Curtis LOVED the ocean! When the tide was out, you could find Curtis digging for ocean creatures and teaching his kids everything about ocean life. He loved spending time with his family in Hawaii and taught his kids how to ride the waves, snorkel, and build the best sandcastles! He taught his kids many things but most of all he taught them patience. He was a gentle soul with a big heart. He believed his kids could do and be anything they wanted to be.
Curtis loved spending with his family. Whether it was gathered around a campfire at a family reunion, sitting around the kitchen table (especially for Xmas fondues), or simply BBQ on the deck for the people he loved…. everyone was always welcome! Curtis was known for his HOT chicken wings! Guaranteed his BBQ was fired up not only in the summer, but all through the seasons. He loved country music especially blue grass and even purchased a banjo and took lessons.
May your beautiful soul rest in peace. You are finally free from your all worries and the stress of your earthly life. We feel comfort knowing that you are in your forever home surrounded by heavenly love, peace, joy and beauty. We will always remember your smile, your compassion towards people, your gentle soul, and your big heart. Until we meet again… See you later!
In honor of our father Curtis, we will be holding a celebration of life in the Spring. If you would like more information, we will be happy to provide you with more details closer to the Spring. If you would like to attend, please contact Danielle at dfwycott@gmail.com
