12 Sept 1948 – 10 Nov 2022
His body was too broken and the pain was too much, so he laid down his burden and closed his eyes. And we are heartbroken.
Bryan John Giesbrecht died on 10 November 2022 in Vernon, BC after succumbing to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. His larger-than-life personality, kindness and enthusiasm left a lasting impact on everyone who met him.
Bryan leaves to mourn:
– Brenda, his wife and partner of 41 years;
– son Marlon and daughter Rebecca (Keith);
– grandchildren Abby, Zach, Dhyana, Kael and Cohen;
– daughter by choice Claudia Serauky;
– siblings Diana (Ralph), Jim (Lynda), Walter (Susan) and Phyllis;
– father-in-law Dan McKinnon, brothers-in-law Scott (Pam) and Todd (Michelle);
– a fine array of nieces and nephews;
– an amazing number of lovely and often eccentric friends across Canada and around the world.
Bryan was predeceased by his parents Elvira (Reimer) and Martin Giesbrecht, mother-in-law Donna McKinnon and brother-in-law Ron Eyolfson.
There will be no funeral. Bryan’s wish was for his friends to gather together locally and hold an exuberant celebration for him. The stories and laughter are mandatory, performing the Monster Mash dance is optional but encouraged. Events will be planned for the summer in the Alberta South Peace country with his Northern family, and in Manitoba with the old gang.
And please consider a donation to a charity of your choice in his memory. He was particularly partial to World Vision Canada.
“Don’t be sad. I’ve had a great life.”
Arrangements have been entrusted to Pleasant Valley funeral Home, (250) 542-4333. Condolences may be left for the family at pleasantvalleyfh.com
