It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, Donald “Don” McLeod. Don passed away from Alzheimer’s at Noric House on October 12, 2022. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 59 years Geraldine “Gerry” McLeod (Henderson) and his beloved sister Rita McLeod and his brother Jay Flutsch. He is also survived by his children Dana (Edward) Wright, Marnie McLeod and David (Leah) McLeod and his cherished grandchildren Sarah, Elizabeth, Rebekah, Emily, Bryce, Drew, Cameron, Emma and great grandchild Christine. Don also leaves behind countless friends from the communities he lived over the course of his life.
Don’s life began in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan, and at an early age, moved to Prince George where he spent his childhood. At the age of 18, Don joined the Canadian Forces where he served 22 years living in Europe and various communities across Canada. After the Canadian Forces, he turned his hand to construction, where he used his many creative talents. Those talents included building beautiful homes, painting, drawing, carving and canoe building. He also had a passion for fishing, especially on Adam’s Lake, his home away from home, with his beloved dogs.
Don will be remembered for his loving, genuine, kind, compassionate soul and his unwavering love for his wife and family. His eagerness to lend a hand whenever needed and his incredible hugs were undeniably the best. We will dearly miss those hugs.
A celebration of life will take place in May of 2023 with details to be finalized. If you’d like to attend, please reach out to Dana at danawwright@gmail.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
