Vernon’s COVID-19 numbers decline week-over-week

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control is reporting a decline in local COVID-19 cases.

The BCCDC’s latest weekly report shows 11 confirmed cases of the virus in the Vernon health area between Oct. 9 and 15.

That is down from the 19 cases confirmed in Greater Vernon the week before.

The BCCDC report also noted declines in cases in the Interior and the province in the latest reporting week.

There were 123 cases confirmed in the Interior and 628 in all of B.C. between Oct. 9 and 15. Those are down from the 150 and 697 confirmed the previous week.

There were 30 people admitted to hospital with COVID-19 in the Interior in the latest week, including nine people who had to be entered into an intensive care unit. That was down from the 34 hospital admissions the previous week, though the ICU admissions did rise from last week’s seven individuals.

In all of B.C., there were 174 people admitted to hospital with the virus last week, down from 237 the week prior. Additionally, the number of ICU admissions across the province fell from 42 to 31.

A total of 32 British Columbians died due to COVID-19 in the latest week, including eight from the Interior. Those are both down from the 44 deaths in all of B.C., including 11 in the Interior, from the week before.

To date, there have been 386,920 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including 68,979 in the Interior.

A total of 4,423 British Columbians have died due to the virus, 670 of whom were located within the Interior.

The BCCDC report did not specify deaths, hospitalizations, or updated total case figures for individual health areas.
