The District of Coldstream has recounted and verified the results of Saturday’s election.

The district stated that the recount and validation of votes confirmed the previously announced candidates had indeed won their seats.

  • Ruth Hoyte (mayor) – win by acclamation
  • Jim Garlick – 1,610 votes
  • Simone Runyan – 1,222 votes
  • Stephanie Hoffman – 1,207 votes
  • Jeremy Levy – 1,024 votes
  • Doug Dirk – 1,023 votes
  • Pat Cochrane – 919 votes

The vote on the referendum to borrow up to $8.5-million over 30 years for the construction of a new public works building was under-reported by one vote Saturday.

After the recount, the vote passed 1,198 to 880 (57.7 per cent).

The district noted 355 of the Yes and 212 of the No votes came from advance polls. On election day, there were 734 votes for and 535 against in Coldstream and 109 for and 133 against in Lavington.

Coldstream’s new council will hold their inaugural meeting November 7.
