Evacuation alert lifted for Shuswap Lake wildfire

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) has rescinded the evacuation alert for the properties near a wildfire off Shuswap Lake.

There are only five properties, all of which are boat-in access only, that were put on alert due to the Mt. Grice-Hutchinson wildfire along the Anstey Peninsula south of Seymour Arm on Aug. 17.

The CSRD said the fire is now under control, but still not completely extinguished, and advised people in the area to be prepared for the fire to start up again and to monitor the CSRD website or the Shuswap Emergency Program’s page for updates.
