Behind the Mask murals still up in the air
The future of the Behind the Mask mural project for Vernon has yet to be determined.
The proposal, which would see pictures of several Vernon residents in masks, that reflect their struggles with mental illness, go up on buildings throughout the city, was presented to Vernon council at its meeting Monday.
When received, Councillor Kelly Fehr made a motion to approve the project in full as originally planned with five going up on city-owned buildings and six being displayed on privately-owned buildings.
Councillor Akbal Mund jumped in, suggesting the scope be narrowed, and that the murals not go up on the washroom building in Civic Memorial Park or on the downtown public washroom building. He did approve of the others, including those on private buildings.
