On June 17, 2022 Raymond (Ray) Melvin Wolfenden of Vernon, BC passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 90 years.
Ray was born to Stanley and Eva Wolfenden in Invermere BC on August 17, 1931.
Ray leaves his sister-in-law Hilda Wolfenden, many nieces, nephews, extended family and longtime friends to mourn his loss.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Grace, his parents, his sisters Jean, Pearl, Phillis, June and his brother Stan.
Ray grew up in the Brisco area, he was a free spirited man. He loved his dogs and horses. He was a very good horseman.
He worked road construction in Alberta and worked for the railway. He came back to BC and joined the logging industry where he contributed to the harvesting of the now famous Bugaboo. He then began his next adventure leaving New Hazelton BC with family and friends for the unknown areas of North Western BC.
During Ray’s working career he was a horse logger, skilled faller, cat skinner, logging truck driver and finishing his working career in the Lumby, Monashee Mountains and neighbouring areas running his Cat Dozer building forestry roads for Weyhauser.
The love bug caught Ray and he married the love of his life Grace Pound in 1968-1999. They built a very successful company and travelled to many exciting locations near and far.
Ray and Grace enjoyed camping and golfing in the later years. Ray was a very easy going guy. He had a huge heart and enjoyed lending a helping hand whenever it was needed. Ray, Grace, friends and fellow club members put in many enjoyable hours looking after and maintaining the Lumby Golf Course. Tipping back a few at the ninth hole a time or two.
Gone but not Forgotten.
