BCHL names award in honour of NHL veteran
A well-known BC Hockey League product now has an award named in his honour.
The Junior A league has announced the Kyle Turris Community Award will be presented to one player from each of the 18 teams at the end of the year, as chosen by the teams.
The award will recognize players who go above and beyond in their BCHL community and is named after former Burnaby Express standout and 14-year NHL veteran Kyle Turris.
Turris was drafted third overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes and remains the highest player ever selected directly from the BCHL.
