Interior Health records 66 new COVID-19 cases, seven deaths confirmed across B.C.

Interior Health had the highest number of new daily COVID-19 cases Thursday, but none of the latest deaths linked to the virus.

I-H reported 66 new infections, the most of the five health authorities. The cases were part of 240 confirmed in B.C.

There were seven new deaths linked to the virus, three in Fraser Health, two in Northern Health and one each in Vancouver Coastal and Island Health.

A total of 2,960 British Columbians have died due to COVID-19.

The number of patients in hospital with the virus fell by 31 to 298, while patients in intensive care fell by two to 49.

There were no new health-care facility outbreaks announced Thursday, but there was one on the Island declared over.

Of the eight facilities listed as active outbreak sites, there were two located in the Interior, the Ponderosa assisted living facility in Kamloops and the Hillside Village nursing home in Salmon Arm.
