Mirko Gregori

is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mirko
Gregori. Mirko passed away at age 85, on February 6, 2022 at Noric House in
Vernon, BC.
He is survived by his loving sister Vera in Slovenija as well as various nephews and
nieces. He also leaves behind his two nieces in Canada, Mary and Majda. Also left
to miss him are many friends from West Kelowna, Vernon and other areas of BC.
Mirko was born on June 6, 1936, in Kranjska Gora, Slovenija, he eventually
immigrated to Smithers, BC and in 1974 he fell in love with the Okanagan Valley
and moved to Vernon, BC, the hills and valleys which always reminded him of the
country of his birth. Mirko enjoyed the simple things in life, he loved nothing
better than to spend time in nature and would go for hikes that lasted for hours.
Mirko spent many years camping with friends in the Monashee Mountains, sitting
around the fire and telling stories. He enjoyed working in his massive yard and
eating the fruits and labours of his garden. He was a devoted member of his
church and a regular at mass. He was also a member of the Slovenian Society of
the Okanagan and attended many cultural festivities. He spent his working years
employed at Weyerhaeuser in Lumby where he worked for many years. Everyone
who knew Mirko will miss him dearly.
We would like to thank Dr. Peters and the nursing staff and volunteers at Noric
House for their care and dedication during the last years of his life.
