RCMP arrest armed man causing disturbance at downtown bus loop

A man who was causing a disturbance while allegedly wielding a knife at the bus loop in downtown Vernon was apprehended Wednesday.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP arrived on the scene at approximately 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22 after receiving reports of a disturbance involving a man with a knife at the intersection of 31st Ave and 30th St.

Mounties were able to locate and safely apprehend the suspect, 25-year-old Tyler Farran. He was held in custody while officers conducted the investigation.

There were no injuries linked to the incident reported to police.

Farran faces a number of charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of stolen property linked to a downtown Vernon business. He is also facing charges of possession of stolen credit cards and possession of break-in instruments.

Farran is being held in custody before appearing in court.
