Posted Dec 21, 2021 | 2:18 PM
It is with great sadness we announce her passing on Dec 15, 2021 in her home surrounded by family after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Betty was born in Vulcan, AB and then moved to BC with her family in 1941. She joined the RCA (Royal Canadian Airforce) in 1956 and became a radio control operator. Betty then got married and had 3 children. She lived in numerous places all across Canada, eventually settling with her husband in Cherryville BC in 1973 and then Lumby in their retirement years.
She had a great passion for camping, swimming, art and bowling. She took in foster children and later volunteered at the Lumby OAP Hall for many years running Meals to Wheels.
Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family and friends. She loved kids and was always seen teaching numerous youngsters how to swim throughout the years. She was also known as Nana and GG to many children beyond her immediate family, too numerous to mention. She always had a warm smile and a hug for everyone.
Betty is survived by her sister Gail (Bert) her children Dan (Tina), Tara (Gary), Joe (LoraLea); her grandchildren Jason (Dorothy), Shanna (Jamie) and Patrick and her great-grandchildren Matayah and Shelby… predeceased by her late husband Alexander Luchak.
