Campaign to shop, eat and give local launched

Dec 7, 2021 | 5:00 PM

Local, local, local.

That sums up the theme of an initiative launched by the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce that encourages residents to shop local, eat local, experience local and give local.

The program is called Rally the Valley.

Chamber general manager Dan Proulx said everyone can be strategic with their actions and send a strong message that our friends and neighbours are important to us.

“When you make a purchase, go out for dinner, visit a local attraction or donate to a charity, you are making an investment in the Greater Vernon area that translates into employment, a vibrant economy and essential community services. We all benefit when we rally together,” said Proulx.

Residents can visit vernonchamber.ca to tell the chamber how they have supported local, and they will be entered to win a grand prize valued at $1,500 generously donated by Village Green Shopping Centre, HM Krause Jewellers and Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union.

The contest runs from now until Dec. 24 at https://www.vernonchamber.ca/rally-the-valley/. The website will also feature retail deals among chamber members as well as important information on where to dine and which non-profit organizations are seeking support.

“A little Rally goes a long way to support the Valley this holiday season,” Proulx remarked.

Chamber members that want their Christmas retail details or non-profit fundraiser added to the Rally the Valley webpage can contact info@vernonchamber.ca or 250-545-0771.
